The Virtual Tag Server (VTS) Field Cloud Communication (FCC) observes, monitors, and determines the status of data sources. The data acquisition function gathers data from the various systems and subsystems, validates the data, collects the data, and sends the data to VTS.
The FCC acts as a complement to VTS where VTS can be running outside of the process control network and the FCC can run inside the process control network to ensure secure communication to the outside world.

- Reading configuration settings from the VTS project file
- Collecting the data on the VTS computer from OPC, ODBC, Modbus, and Web servers
- Sending the collected data to the VTS UA Server
- Receiving the data from VTS UA Server to write back to onsite servers if necessary
- Reading the status of the VTS on the cloud and updating the VTS Project if necessary
